The Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) Directorate is comprised of several key groups working cooperatively together to implement, enhance and support the strategic institute initiatives and projects related to Georgia Tech’s enterprise administrative/business and academic information systems.
Global Development Technologies and Strategies
The software development and project support groups provide day-to-day support and assistance to those who use any of the campus' Human Capital Management Systems (HCM), Financial Systems, Student Information Systems, Contract Administration and other Campus Applications. This group, divided into the Academic Applications team and the Business Applications team, solves software problems, enhances functionality of vendor packages, and develops custom solutions to meet campus priorities as governed by the Student Information Systems Governance Board (SIS Gov) and the Executive Program Management Group (EPMG).
Academic Applications
Includes technical implementation, enhancements, integration and support of the Banner Student Information System, the BuzzPort Portal, the Contract Administration System for the Office of Sponsored Contracts and other Campus Applications such as Student Elections, Faculty Elections, Housing Registration, Course Instructor Opinion Survey, Online Assessment Tracking System,Career Tech and the Stay Connected Parent Portal
Business Applications
Includes technical implementation, enhancements, integration and support of the PeopleSoft Human Capital Management System, Financials System, the TechWorks Portal and other Campus Applications such as GT E-911, WebPSF, gtID# Lookup and Request,Ad-Hoc Reporting applications and SciQuest integration
Systems Management
The System Management group provides the infrastructure services and support required by various administrative / business and academic systems in their maintenance and implementation efforts. The group consists of Database Administration, Application Security / Configuration Management, Business Intelligence and Database Design, Quality Assurance and Technical and Integration Support.
Identity Management and Middleware
Includes the management of identities, attributes, authentication and authorization components such as Account Services, Authentication Services, Authorization Services, Passport and Directory Services along with middleware technology integration and support for institute enterprise administrative/business and academic initiatives.
Database Administration
Includes management of Georgia Tech’s administrative/business and academic enterprise system databases; includes support for upgrades and patches, database security, tuning and troubleshooting
Application Security / Configuration Management
Includes administration and management of application security components for enterprise administrative/business and academic systems via authorization from the institute data stewards; responsible for configuration management in the migration of code from the development, test and production environments of the enterprise applications
Business Intelligence and Database Design
Includes the design and support of the Georgia Tech Data Warehouse, including the design of the dimensional model schema and structure for enhancing the foundation and access to core business and academic data for decision making and business intelligence
Quality Assurance
Includes testing and quality assurance support and consultation for Georgia Tech's administrative and academic information systems
Administrative System Technical Integration and Application Support
Includes adminisitrative and academic system integration and support for Windows based enterprise applications, including Kronos, GT Reports, Banner Document Management (Imaging), Remedy / Numara and Sunapsis International Student System; provide internal technical support for EIS and support for the 811 Marietta St. training room / Emergency Operations Center
