Crystal Reports

Crystal Reports

Set Up

Many useful Crystal Reports have already been written and are available to the user community. To run Crystal Reports you must have your CSS or CSR set up your computer by installing the necessary software. Contact your CSS or CSR for help. Step by step instructions on how to download and run crystal reports are available.

NOTE: Reports previously provided on this page are now available to be run using AFACTS and your workstation browser.

Running Crystal Reports

Crystal Reports are now run using a web browser. You no longer need a local copy of Crystal Reports or Seagate Analysis.

For running a report that has already been set up to run:
Open your browser and use the URL afacts.gatech.edu. On the first screen (the FERPA screen) you will see a 'How to use AFACTS' link on the top right hand corner of the browser page. This tells you how to run a report and how to send a copy of the report to a local printer. After you acknowledge the 'I have read and agree with the FERPA Statement', you will be asked to log in using your campus account and password. You will use the one you normally use for email.

Adding Previously Written Reports to AFACTS

Note: This also applies to reports written by others and emailed to you.
From inside AFACTS, click on the My Folders Tab. Select Favorites. Click on the NEW icon and select 'Document from local computer'. That will give you a list of options from which you select 'Crystal Report'. It will then allow you to browse your local computer for a report you would like to add to AFACTS. Reports will automatically be converted to the latest version of Crystal Reports except where options were used that are not compatible with the newest version of Crystal Reports. Those reports must be converted using the Crystal Reports on the server and the options converted to be compatible with the newest version of Crystal Reports.

Requesting Access to Student Information

Full time Georgia Tech employees who need to have access to Banner/FACTS/AFACTS in order to perform their job responsibilities must have the official requester in their department send a request, on their behalf, using the Banner request website. If approved for access, the employee will be notified by email regarding the procedure for obtaining their user ID and password.

Writing New Crystal Reports (i.e. for Developers)

Access to Crystal Reports for developing reports is now supported for use campus wide on a Citrix Crystal Reports Server. To get access, you will have to request access by email to Dana Hartley <dana.hartley@carnegie.gatech.edu>.
Note that this is for new reports written from scratch and not needed for running reports that have been previously written.
