The Classroom Design team provides the Institute and individual departments with standards and designs for technology equipped learning spaces at Georgia Tech. Working with units, faculty, administration, and groups such as the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL), Space Planning, and Facilities Design and Construction, the team strives to match pedagogical needs, up-to-date technology trends, and sustainability and supportability in their designs and standards.
The team is responsible for contracting, quality control, and project management for construction and renovation of all technology equipped learning spaces, handling an average of 25 projects annually at a cost of approximately $1 million, not including new constuction. Classroom Design partners very closely with the Classroom Support Team, which is responsible for continuing support of technology equipped learning spaces once they are placed into service. Currently, there are more than 375 such spaces at Georgia Tech supported by the team, of which more than 150 are centrally scheduled classrooms.
