All machines on the Georgia Tech network should have an anti-virus package installed. Georgia Tech has a site-license for McAfee VirusScan. This software can be installed on all Institute-owned machines, as well as machines owned by current students and employees.
Units, which pefer to manage desktop virus ptotection from a central console, have the option of using ePO. This system requires only a small agent to be installed on a machine. Based on the preferences of the Unit, the agent will automatically install select McAfee products and modify policies settings related to the McAfee products. In addition, the agent will enforce compliance to the Unit's preferences should a setting be changed directly on the desktop. Using ePO also gives a unit the option for the Host Intrusion Provention System (HIPS).
