The campus depends on a robust cabling infrastructure in order to educate the current student body, perform research, and operate the business of the Institute. The Infrastructure Engineering Team insures the campus cabling infrastructure meets the current needs and anticipates new cabling technologies for future applications. The Infrastructure Engineering Team developments construction documents and specifications for telecommunications infrastructure and performs project management for telecommunication projects.
The Infrastructure Engineering Team provides design for data cabling, voice cabling (including multi-pair backbone cabling), CATV cabling (including backbone cabling), fiber optic cabling (both interior and outside plant cabling), and all associated pathways, termination hardware, and wire management. In addition to the physical cabling, the Infrastructure Design Team performs wireless site surveys to determine the placement of wireless access points to insure the correct coverage. Last, the Infrastructure Engineering Team working closely with Facilities Design and Construction and outside engineers / architects to review and consult on new construction or major renovations.
