Call the 24x7 OIT Network Operations Center (NOC) at 404-894-4669.
The Network Operations Center (NOC) in the Office of Information Technology (OIT) oversees monitoring, management, and operation of Georgia Tech's central computer rooms, the campus network, and OIT provided systems and services. Among the monitored services are critical infrastructure components such as DNS, the GT Enterprise Directory (GTED), and MyGatech email; academic services such as t-square/sakai; and administrative components such as Banner, PeopleSoft, and TechWorks.
Computer Operations staff are stationed in the Network Operations Center in the Rich building 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The NOC staff monitor the campus network using state of the art packages such as HP Openview, as well as custom software designed around Georgia Tech's specific needs. They also oversee the central site computers, performing procedures such as permanent file backups, starting up and shutting down various subsystems and databases as scheduled, ensuring that all systems are functioning properly, and recognizing potential problems so that corrective action can be taken.
Operators scan an array of over 30 consoles to ensure that systems availability and on-campus and off-campus network connectivity are maintained at optimum levels. In emergencies, they can call on an array of experts from all of OIT to quickly restore service to our customers. Staff members are always available to answer questions concerning system or network status, either at the NOC counter in the back hallway of the Rich building, or via the telephone number above.
