OIT offers campus subscription support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Academic Desktop and Server editions for students, faculty, and staff. OIT provides system administration for the Red Hat Network (RHN) Satellite Server and supported channels* available for download via OIT Software Distribution.
Georgia Tech students, faculty and staff can request the operating system with the campus subscription available for use on personally-owned workstations. Installations of RHEL for Institute-owned equipment must be obtained by the unit CSS or CSR. All subscriptions must be registered with the campus RHN Satellite Service using the OIT-supplied activation key. Registration is required in order to enable automated operating system patches and package updates, as well as license tracking and audit purposes.
*Linux channels are comprised of the RHEL subscription level, the release version and the supported architecture for each subscription.
