Campus student residences are equipped with Internet connection ports and cabling for students' personal computers. To set up your connection, you are required to register your computer with the appropriate administrative group, ResNet for a residence hall or EastNet for a sorority or fraternity residence.
The ResNet or EastNet system administrator will ask you for the Ethernet address of your computer's network card, and add it to the DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) service. The campus network uses DHCP to dynamically allocate IP addresses to student computers.
To connect your computer to the Internet from a student residence, this is what you need:
- Computer that meets Student Computer Ownership (SCO) requirements.
- Network port and Ethernet cable in your campus residence.
- Register your computer with either ResNet or EastNet by opening your web browser. You will be automatically redirected to the registration page.

ResNet
Students living in residence halls can connect to the campus network through ResNet. If you are in a ResNet equipped residence hall, then you need to register your computer with DHCP to be issued an IP address. ResNet will ask you for the Ethernet address of your network card. For more information:
Go to the ResNet site (http://www.resnet.gatech.edu)

EastNet
Students living in fraternities and sororities can connect to the campus network through EastNet. If you are a Fraternity or Sorority member living in one of the EastNet equipped Greek Houses, then you will need to register your computer with the DHCP service to be issued an IP address. EastNet will ask you for the Ethernet address of your network card. For more information:
Go to the EastNet site (http://www.eastnet.gatech.edu)

EastNet Wireless
OIT is now offering GTwireless to the fraternities and sororities. This is the same wireless service used in the academic and administrative buildings around campus. For billing or signup information, please contact Carol Whitescarver of OIT.
