Who would use this service?

Departments who wish to run their applications on a highly redundant, scalable infrastructure in a physically secured facility should consider hosting their machines on OIT's virtual server infrastructure.  OIT will provide a virtual machine with 2GB of ram, 1 virtual CPU, and 30GB of disk space for $500 a year on which you can run the operating system of your choice.    Alternatively, OIT will manage the operating system (Windows server 2008 or RedHat Enterprise Linux) for $1700 per year.    Additional resources can be added to the virtual machine at any time for an additional $100/vCPU/year, $50/GB of memory/year, and $0.90/GB of Storage/year.
